Kittenpalooza takes over Northwoods Mall

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- More than just hot summer fashions were found at the mall Saturday. You could find an adorable pair of kittens to go with that new outfit.

The folks at PetHelpers say they're bursting at the seams with little furry friends and to help find homes for them all, they hosted Kittenpalooza at Northwoods Mall.

The adoption and fostering event will was held in Dillard's Court.

Kittens were available for just $25 and came spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested, treated, microchipped and with PetHelpers' Pet Helper Promise.

Fun features included a kitten carousel and Ferris wheel and a chance to win prizes with the Wheel of Furrtune.

Pet-themed vendors including Tucker's Treats, My Pet's Silhouette and Find Love in Pitbulls were on hand and Unchain Charleston sold t-shirts while artist Missy Johnson of Dogs 4 the Paws drew caricatures.

Despite the need to find fur-ever homes for the adorable kittens, one staff member said it's hard to say goodbye.

"It's a bittersweet moment for some of the ones you've grown close to," said Carolina Morris with PetHelpers. "But knowing that they've found a home and they're not going to spend anymore time in the shelter is really great."

Organizers say the event went so well, volunteers had to go back to PetHelpers three times to get more kittens.
