Lane closures start at Charleston International

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Half of the traffic lanes in front of the Charleston International Airport will be closed for renovations.

Airport officials say four of the eight drop off and pick up lanes will be shut down for construction.

Those lanes will be closed for most of this year. {}{} {}

Officials ask walkers and drivers in the area to use caution and look out for black and yellow signs for directions.

Over the next two years the Charleston County Aviation Authority says they plan to spend 189 million dollars to give Charleston's airport an updated and more modern feel.

Officials said the upgrades should be completed in 2015. More updates on the construction plan can be found at
