Limehouse announces run for Scott's open seat

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Republican state Rep. Chip Limehouse announced Thursday he would be campaigning for the 1st District seat left open by Tim Scott's appointment to the U.S. Senate.{}

"Washington isn't getting the job done. America -- and South Carolina -- deserve better. I'm running for Congress to stand up for South Carolina, not cut deals with Barack Obama," Limehouse said.{}

Limehouse currently serves on the Ways and Means Committee and chairs the Subcommittee on Higher Education in the Statehouse.{}
