Lindsey Graham endorses Mark Sanford

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham offered an endorsement for former Gov. Mark Sanford.

"Mark has a proven track record cutting spending and fighting government expansion, something we sorely need more of in Washington,"{}Graham{}said in a release. "The Obama Democrats already control the Senate, making the House of Representatives the last line of defense against the Democratic agenda. Let's not forget that when the Democrats controlled everything, we got ObamaCare and trillions of dollars in new debt. The bottom line is that no Republican or conservative independent can afford to sit on the sidelines for this race.{}In Congress, Mark will vote to cut wasteful spending, eliminate debt and make government work for the taxpayer. We need him in Washington."

The endorsement comes a day after Hustler's publisher, Larry Flynt endorsed Sanford, calling him a sex pioneer, and extramarital affair website posted a billboard outside of Columbia using Sanford's likeness.

The endorsement also comes after a recent poll shows Sanford trailing his opponent, businesswoman Elizabeth Colbert Busch, by 9 points.
