NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- It's become a holiday tradition all its own.
Each year for the past five years, The Dream Center has teamed with Seacoast Church to provide thousands of needy families with hot Thanksgiving dinners.
"Our goal today is to deliver about 3,500 hot meals to the community," said Sam Lesky of Seacoast Church as volunteers loaded and packed food behind him Thursday. "We've been doing this for about five years now."
The Dream Center is a nonprofit organization established in 2007 in North Charleston to "provide resources and opportunities to low-income, homeless and under-served individuals and families." The organization's Adopt-a-block program has been credited with helping to significantly reduce crime in some areas of the city, according to the North Charleston Police Department.
