Lowcountry Furniture Bank to bring hope for families in crisis

CHARLESTON, S. C. (WCIV) -- One man's vision to help families living in crisis has now become a reality.
First furniture banks, first organized in the early 1980's, have arrived in the Lowcountry. As of today, the number has grown to over 70 located across the United States and Canada.
The Lowcountry Furniture Bank, founded by Steve Paterniti, is the end result of a vision of good will. Paterniti recalled the scripture that all but secured what has been his dream.
"And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?" Paterniti said.
Paterniti plans to work closely with other local organizations to serve families trying to get back on their feet.
"Most of the furniture throughout the country work on referral and that would be our plan as well," said Paterniti.
