Lowcountry soldier receives big welcome home

North Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) A Lowcountry soldier was caught off guard Tuesday night after receiving a surprise welcome home party from family and friends.
R.J. Hair planned to secretly return home to surprise his wife and young son, but little did he know they had their own surprise.
"I found out being the wife that I am," said the soldier's wife, Megan Hair.
Hair says this time around the joke was on her husband.
"I called everybody here that loves him and we threw this huge thing," she said. "He's already surprised me on two different times on deployment."
Cheers eventually greeted her husband as he made his way through the airport the look on R.J. Hair's face, in return, was priceless.
"It makes me feel great. It really does. It makes you feel good be back home and stay home for good finally," said the soldier.
After serving in the U.S. Army for six years, in the past, R.J. Hair was the one delivering the surprises throughout the years.
"She turned the tables definitely this time, so that the most surprised I've ever been," he said.
"He left when our son was just six weeks old and he's 22 months old now," said R.J.'s wife.
Also there to surprise R.J. Hair was his mother.
"Gosh, to have him come home is the biggest blessing I could ever receive," said Cathy Hair. "I'm so happy to see him."
Now that the happy couple is together again, they say they just plan to take things easy before going on vacation eventually to Miami.
"We are going to relax for the next couple of days," said Megan Hair.
"Now that I'm actually home for good, I want my son to know what having a family around all the time is," said R.J. Hair.
The couple has been married for six years.
