      Lt. Dan weekend at the North Charleston Coliseum

      NORTHCHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band are back hostingtheir 6th annual Lt. Dan Weekend in the Lowcountry.

      This year the concert is set to begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.20 at the North Charleston Coliseum.

      The concert is a way to raise money for the Independence Fund, a100 percent volunteer nonprofit organization that supports the nation's mostseverely injured veterans.

      The weeklong event starts off at the Palm Key Retreat on KnowlesIsland. More than 100 severely injured veterans and their caregivers areexpected to attend. Their travel was made possible through donations to theIndependence Fund.

      The theme of the retreat will be the art of healing, according toorganizers, with activities focusing on painting, drawing, photography andmusic to heal both the emotional and physical wounds of war. Along with arttherapy, there will be a full week of events, including kayaking, fishing, and yoga.

      The party in the park will be held Friday evening at RiverfrontPark. The event will give veterans and the band the chance to interact with thecommunity with live music, food and other activities. {}

      Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. and will beavailable through ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at1-800-745-3000 or in person at the North Charleston Coliseum.

      Reserved seat ticket prices start at $25. VIP tickets for the concertare $125 and include premium seating as well as access to a catered pre-concertreception at the North Charleston Convention Center Ballroom.

      Tickets will be discounted 10 percent through Memorial Day. All proceeds from the LDW5 events will godirectly to the Independence Fund. {}
