Machine sparks fire at Kapstone in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A machine sparked a fire at the Kapstone plant in North Charleston early Wednesday morning.

According to fire officials, Charleston County Dispatch received the first call for a commercial fire on Virginia Avenue around 1 a.m.

The first fire crews arrived moments later and found a fire inside one of the machines at Kapstone. Fire officials said the fire was quickly put out and they started cooling the machine so it did not spark another fire.

According to fire crews, the fire reached the ceiling above the machine.

There were no injuries, officials said, and the last fire crew left the area at 6 a.m.

Firefighters from North Charleston, Charleston, St Andrews, Mt. Pleasant and Summerville assisted with the fire.
