Magnolia celebrates National Public Gardens Day

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - It's National Public Gardens Day and a park near Charleston is celebrating with free admission.

Visitors to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens on the Ashley River can get in free Friday by printing a coupon from the American Public Gardens Association website.

Magnolia and about two dozen of the association's other member gardens nationwide are celebrating Public Gardens Day to draw attention to the need to protect the environment and encourage plant and water conservation.

The free offer to Magnolia does not include guided tours or the Audubon Swamp and is only valid on Friday, May 10.

A paper coupon printed from the NPGA website is required. Each coupon is valid for two people. The image of the coupon in smart phones, iPads and iPods will not be accepted.
