Maid gets 2 years for stealing from slain couple

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a woman who found a Greenville couple stabbed to death in their home last fall will spend two more years in prison for stealing from the husband and wife before they were killed.

A judge sentenced 51-year-old Shirley Rogers to an additional 24 months in prison Tuesday. She has already spent more than six months behind bars since her arrest.

Rogers pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of a debit card in February. Prosecutors say she was the housekeeper for 78-year-old Gary Wells and 77-year-old Helen Wells, who were stabbed to death in October.

A man who knew Rogers has been charged with murder, first-degree burglary and kidnapping in the couple's deaths. Authorities have not detailed exactly how Jonathan Rhodes and Rogers were acquainted.
