Dave wraps last day on mornings as Tom takes the reins

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Friday was Dave William's last day on the morning shift as morning meteorologist for Good Morning Charleston and Lowcountry Live.

Dave Williams has been named the Chief Meteorologist for ABC News 4.{}

"I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to work for more than 20 years at ABC News 4," said Tom. "Dave will make a great chief and we will continue along with Meteorologist Sonya Stevens to give the most accurate weather forecasts in the Lowcountry."

As Chief Meteorologist, Dave will join ABC News 4 at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.{}

"I'm excited to get the opportunity to head of the best weather team in the city I love," said Dave. "I've always dreamed of becoming a chief meteorologist and it's a job I take very seriously.{} I make it my goal to provide the most accurate weather information to the people of the Lowcountry and beyond."

Meteorologist Tom Crawford will join ABC News 4's morning programs Good Morning Charleston and Lowcountry Live.{} These changes will take effect on Monday, October 22, 2012.

"A change in times yes but also this will allow me to enjoy afternoon's and evenings with family and friends," said Tom. "This will also give Dave a great opportunity to take the position of Chief Meteorologist."

"I hope bad weather stays away, but I want you to know that if and when it does come here, I will be ready to keep you out of harm's way," said Dave. "I look forward to getting into the community as much as possible to educate people about the weather."

Tom Crawford is a member of the Meteorological Society and has been awarded the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.{} He was recognized as South Carolina's Best Weathercaster in 1998 and 1999 by the Associated Press.

Dave Williams is a member of the National Weather Association, The American Meteorological Society, and holds a Seal of Approval from the NWA.
