Man accused of assaulting girlfriend caught in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- An Orangeburg man accused of assaulting his girlfriend in Orangeburg County was captured Friday by U.S. Marshals in North Charleston.

According to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, Michael Bryan Gibson was spotted walking through a neighborhood and surrendered without incident Friday morning.

Gadson was wanted in connection to an April 21 incident in which officers found the victim with several bruises and facial swelling.

"Our investigation indicates Gadson pointed a shotgun at the victim and ordered her to get into the bath tub. Gadson then threatened the female's life several times," Ravenell said.

The sheriff added that Gadson allegedly threw a table at the woman in October.

"He was arrested in February on a charge of Criminal Domestic Violence - First Offense and was out on $2,130 bond," Ravenell said.

Gadson has been charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
