Man charged in teen's killing waives bond hearing
CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) - An attorney for a man charged with murder in the strangulation of an 18-year-old woman in Kershaw County has decided not to ask for a bond hearing.
Sheriff Jim Matthews said Monday that 21-year-old Stephen Kelly waived his bond hearing and will stay in jail until his trial.
Investigators say Kelly raped and killed 18-year-old Briana Rabon last week after meeting her in a parking lot. Children riding on ATVs found her body on a dirt road.
The sheriff says deputies will take DNA from Kelly and see if it matches evidence collected from his car and Rabon's car.
Matthews says Kelly will face murder, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping charges. He remains in the Kershaw County jail.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
