Man drowns in Savannah River near North Augusta
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 33-year-old North Augusta man has drowned while swimming in the Savannah River.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said that Toyian Williams was in the river with friends around 1:45 p.m. Saturday when he slipped under rocks and didn't come back to the surface.
A dive team from Richmond County, Georgia, found Williams' body a short time later.
Carlton says foul play is not suspected, but an autopsy has been ordered on Williams to confirm the cause of death.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
