Man drowns in Savannah River near North Augusta

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 33-year-old North Augusta man has drowned while swimming in the Savannah River.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said that Toyian Williams was in the river with friends around 1:45 p.m. Saturday when he slipped under rocks and didn't come back to the surface.

A dive team from Richmond County, Georgia, found Williams' body a short time later.

Carlton says foul play is not suspected, but an autopsy has been ordered on Williams to confirm the cause of death.
