Man gets 1 year in prison for accidental shooting

      BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to a year in prison for accidentally shooting his friend on Christmas Day in 2011.

      The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports ( ) that 33-year-old Andrew Bogart pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter.

      Deputies say Bogart loaded a pistol on Dec. 25, 2011, in his Bluffton home and began passing it around to his friends. The gun fired while Bogart was aiming it at 25-year-old Adrian Hilliard. The bullet hit Hilliard in the head.

      Bogart ran away before deputies arrived and was arrested a week later. He was also sentenced to two years of probation.
