NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Captain Scott Deckard with North Charleston Police says a traffic stop during a drug investigation led to a police chase Thursday night.

Deckard says around 5:10 p.m. on Rivers Avenue, an officer stopped a car on Highway 52 westbound near Rivers Ave, and the car took off.

The officer went after the vehicle but was involved in a minor collision in his pursuit at Rivers Ave. and Greenridge Road, according to Deckard.

More officers continued in pursuit of the car and witnessed another accident on Rivers Ave. near Otranto Road involving the suspect, according to police. Deckard says three cars were involved and one car rolled over.

Police say the suspect got out of his car and fled on foot.{} Witnesses were able to point officers in the direction of the suspect and officers caught and arrested him.

Captain Deckard says 24-year-old Cleo Williams Jr. will be charged Friday with numerous state and federal charges.

According to Deckard, a 27-year-old pregnant female and her 9-year-old child were in the car that rolled over. They were taken to Trident Hospital for treatment of minor injures. Deckard says an occupant of another vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment. The officer involved in the collision was not hurt.

Bond was set at $1.3 million Friday morning.
