Man sentenced to 18 years in armed robbery case

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) - A man was sentenced to 18months in prison after a jury found him guilty of committing three armedrobberies against truck drivers.

The solicitor's office said Joseph Mack was sentenced to themaximum of 15 years per armed robbery and three years for failing to stop forblue lights.

The robberies happened on Jan. 6, 2013, prosecutors showed.Mack demanded money and personal property before escaping in a pickup truck.

Police caught up to Mack, but he did not stop for the lightsand sirens until he crashed into a mobile home. During the chase, Mack threwthe stolen goods out of his truck, officials said.

After he was taken into custody, Mack was identified by twoof the truck drivers.

"The victims will always be affected by this incident, butwe are glad that we were able to take a dangerous man off the streets to givethem some peace of mind," said assistant solicitor Colleen Taylor.
