Man suspected of killing 3 SC women waives hearing

Jeffrey Eady after he was captured in Mexico Beach, FL

MANNING, S.C. (AP) - A 31-year-old South Carolina man charged with killing three women last week has waived his right to appear before a judge.

Jeffrey Eady was scheduled to appear before a magistrate Tuesday but chose to stay in jail until he can appear before a circuit judge, who could consider bail.

Eady is charged in the deaths of 77-year-old Sadie Brown, 65-year-old Maybell White, and 37-year-old Crystal Johnson. White's body was found at a Clarendon County recycling facility. Johnson was killed in the Charleston County convenience store where she worked.

Brown's body was found Sunday, a day after Eady was arrested in Bay County, Fla.

Eady's first court appearance was scheduled Monday but was delayed after deputies said he tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrist. He's now on suicide watch.
