Manhunt called off for suspect in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - Charleston County deputies spent part of the day searching for a suspect near the Mount Pleasant Town Center. The search has since been called off.

According to deputies, they were involved in a chase Tuesday morning with a suspect who evaded capture Monday night.

During the chase, the suspect's car blew a tire and he got out and ran behind the Lowe's in Mount Pleasant. Deputies described the suspect as a 5-foot, 5-inch tall slender black man in his early 20s.

Deputies say deputies were searching the area in a helicopter and on the ground. The search ended around 1 p.m.

The car is a rental from Hertz, deputies said.
