AYNOR, S.C. (AP) - A firearms manufacturer that recently opened a plant in the state is making 1,000 commemorative South Carolina guns, one of which will be given to Gov. Nikki Haley.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/T7SP99 ) PTR Industries is making the gun to show its appreciation to the state. Each gun is stamped with the state symbol of the palmetto tree and crescent.
PTR moved to Horry County from Connecticut because lawmakers in that state passed stricter gun control laws after the Sandy Hook School shootings.
Company vice president John McNamara said the company developed the gun as a way to give something back to South Carolina. The commemorative gun costs $1,200 and can be purchased at several gun stores in the Myrtle Beach area.
