McGrews give up custody of children to grandparents

Quintin and Chantel McGrew in court Sept 2012

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Lowcountry couple has agreed to give up custody of their children after a second dog-biting incident in their home.{}

Quintin and Chantal McGrew are trying to turn over custody to their children's grandparents after deputies and Department of Social Services agents investigated dog bites on the McGrew's 3-year-old child.{}

Now the state has to conduct a study for possible placement. Until then, the children will remain in state custody.{}

Last year, the McGrew's youngest child was mauled to death by a family dog. Quintin McGrew is waiting to stand trial for neglect charges stemming from that child's death.
