      Men arrested in September robbery, assault

      LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Authorities have arrested two men they say assaulted a 19-year-old Ladson man in mid-September.

      Charleston County sheriff's deputies were called to Outwood Street in Ladson Sept. 18 after the man reported being assaulted by two men. The alleged victim told investigators the suspects believed he had been involved in a theft from a home in the Woodside subdivision.

      "The victim had obvious signs of trauma" and was taken to the hospital, according to a news release from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

      Melonard Bennett, 33, is charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime after he was found at a probation meeting, deputies said.

      Steven R. McPherson was arrested Tuesday and charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
