Metanoia will be featured in the Volunteer 4 Phonebank

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - The future of the Charleston community will largely be determined by the growth of our young people. That's where the Metanoia Community Development Corporation comes in to play. Their organization helps mold that next generation of leadership. {}

They do this by offering after school programs, investing in the neighborhood, and encouraging home ownership. On top of supplying free home repairs to people on low or fixed incomes, volunteers with Metanoia also teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. {}

The group is currently building two youth businesses for young people, and is focused on rebuilding the Reynolds Avenue Corridor in North Charleston. {}They are also working with the city of North Charleston to bring a much needed grocery store to the area.{}

In order to offer such focused attention on the community Metanoia is always looking for volunteers, especially with their fundraising efforts.

On Wednesday, leaders with the organization will be featured on the Volunteer 4 Phonebank. They need help throwing an upcoming Jubilee. The event is Dec. 5 at Embassy Suites in North Charleston.

Volunteers will help decorate tables, check in guests, and promote online auction items. {}

If you would like to help please call in from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Phonebank number is 881-5837. If you can't call during the phonebank, but still want to help you can always call two other numbers any time of the day.

Those numbers are: Dial 2-1-1 or (843) 744-HELP or 1-800-922-2283.
