CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials confirmed in the early morning hours on Saturday that a suspect in a West Ashley murder had been located and taken into custody.

According to Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Chelsey Black Jr. was arrested in Sumter around midnight on Friday/Saturday. Brady said Black will face a murder charge stemming from a death at 2103 Fife Lane on Friday.

Officials say relatives were worried about a woman who lived at the house. Relatives told police they had not heard from her recently.

Police entered the home and found the woman dead with stab wounds. Investigators believe it was a domestic situation. The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 25-year-old Amanda Black from Charleston.

Police believe he fled the residence at some point before law enforcement officers arrived at 4:15 p.m.

Black was believed to originally been accompanied by his 2-year-old daughter, who has since been located with family members in Sumter, S.C. Officials said another daughter, a 4-year-old was left with family members in Charleston.
