Missing woman's mom making another trip to SC
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WCIV/AP) -- The mother of a New York woman who disappeared while on a vacation to South Carolina is visiting the state four years later.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that Dawn Drexel is visiting the Myrtle Beach area on Thursday to mark her daughter's 21st birthday. Members of the public are invited to attend a ceremony the Grand Park at Market Common in Myrtle Beach. The family will be handing out packets of the flower "Forget Me Not" seedlings in honor of her anniversary remembrance and will gather at Brittanee's tree in a ceremony to plant the first of the packets, according to the CUE Center for Missing Persons. The event begins at 6 p.m.
Brittanee Drexel was 17 years old when she disappeared in April 2009 during a spring break trip.
Brittanee was last seen leaving a hotel on Ocean Boulevard. Authorities have searched surrounding counties multiple times but have not found the girl. No arrests have been made in her disappearance.
Thursday marks four years since Drexel vanished.
