Moderate severe storm risk Wed. in parts of SC
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The National Weather Service says there is a good chance of severe weather Wednesday in South Carolina.
The service's Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of South Carolina from Columbia east and from Georgetown north under a moderate risk of severe storms Wednesday. That means there is a 45% chance of tornados or thunderstorms with 75 mph winds or hail 2 inches in diameter within 25 miles of any place included in the moderate risk.
The severe storms in the Midlands, Pee Dee and Grand Strand would be part of the same system expected to bring dangerous weather to Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia on Christmas Day.
The weather is expected to turn colder behind the storms.
