Moped driver cited after rear-ending bus

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A moped driver was hospitalized briefly Friday morning after he ran into a school bus that had stopped to pick up a child for school.

According to North Charleston police, the accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. at Rivers Avenue and Fuller Street.

The empty bus was stopped with its yellow flashers on at the time of the accident, officials said. But the moped driver continued on his course into the rear of the bus.

He was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment. Officials did not list the injuries the man sustained or give his identity.

The moped driver was cited for following too closely.
