More details released in high speed police chase

AWENDAW, S.C. (WCIV)-- The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has released the incident report for the high speed chase involving Sheriff Al Cannon.The report states much of what is already known: Sheriff Cannon tried to stop a pick up truck and when the driver fled, other officers joined the pursuit.An added detail is that the driver, identified as Timothy Shawn McManus of Mount Pleasant, almost ran over several deputies as he was driving around the stop sticks put into his path.When McManus lost control of his truck, he got out and tried to reach under his front seat. Officers tackled him and as he continued to struggle until K-9 Ivar "apprehended" his upper right arm.McManus, handcuffed, continued to fight with police, even attempting to spit on one of them before they finally got him under control and sent him to East Cooper for his injuries.McManus has been charged with failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, reckless driving, driving under suspension third offense, and resisting arrest.

McManus appeared in bond court on Tuesday and was issued a bond of $102,550 on all charges.
