More than 3,300 playing in World Amateur Handicap

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - More than 3,300 golfers are teeing off in the annual World Amateur Handicap Championship this week at golf courses along the Grand Strand.

The number for the event which opens Monday represents an increase of about 8% than the number of participants last year.

This year is the 30th anniversary of the tournament.

The championship round is set for Friday at the Dye Club at Barefoot Resort.
