Multiple businesses damaged in early morning fire

Fire at North Charleston strip mall (WCIV)

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A North Charleston restaurant was among multiple businesses damaged in an early morning fire along Dorchester Road on Thursday.

The actual fire was contained to Senor Tequila, according to North Charleston Fire Department Division Chief Jeff Rush. The restaurant is part of a strip mall located next door to Wal-Mart. Other businesses on the strip, including Angel Nails and Ultra Tan, were damaged by smoke. Officials say the damage could have been much worse if not for a fire wall in the building.

Officials say the call came in around 1:45 a.m. Firefighters battled the fire and hot spots afterwards for several hours.

There were no injuries. Fire officials say Senor Tequila will likely be closed for some time.
