1 injured, 1 dead in early morning North Charleston shootings
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened early Wednesday morning in North Charleston. In one of the shootings, the victim died.
North Charleston police say the first shooting happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday on Aintree Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one person near the front door to one of the homes suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to Medical University Hospital.
The second shooting happened at the same time on the 3900 block of Niagara Street. Officers responding to that scene found another person with gunshot wounds. According to police, the victim's son said he heard knocking at the front door.
When the boy's mother went to answer it, she was shot, the boy told police.
The woman was taken to MUSC where she later died, police said.
Police said they have no information on suspects, nor is there information that the two shootings are related. Police are still investigating.
