Murray cleans up on awards Monday
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference has named Brandon Murray the SoCon Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Murray has already been named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after his record-breaking performance in Sunday's win over Davidson.
The junior outfielder set a new school record with nine RBI as he hit a grand slam, a three-run homer and a two-run double in CofC's 18-5 win over the Wildcats. Murray's nine-RBI performance marked the third-most for a single game in the NCAA this season, and was the most RBI for a SoCon player since 2008.
A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Murray finished the weekend with 13 RBI on three home runs for a slugging percentage of 1.154.
This award is the first SoCon weekly honor for the Cougars this season, and the second conference weekly award for Murray in his career.
