MUSC Children's Hospital changes name

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital has changed its name to The Children's Hospital of South Carolina at MUSC. The hospital posted a video on its website on Friday following the name change. You can see the video here:

"We wanted to reflect the impact the Children's Hospital's dedicated team has had on South Carolina's children by providing an environment that supports excellence in pediatric-patient care, education and research," said John Sanders, Children's Hospital administrator.

The pediatric nephrology program at MUSC earned its first top-50 performance in the US News & World Report's Best Children's Hospital rankings in 2013. The nephrology program joined cardiology and heart surgery and gastroenterology and GI surgery on the list, which was released June 11.

"The children of South Carolina are extremely fortunate to have the very best possible care available in the state," said Rita Ryan, M.D., chair of the Department of Pediatrics.
