MUSC hosting annual Hurricane Awareness Day
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - With hurricane season less than two weeks away, the Medical University of South Carolina is holding its annual Hurricane Awareness Day.
A panel of meteorologists and emergency experts will be on hand Tuesday at the university's horseshoe to answer questions about preparing for a hurricane, having an emergency plan and seeking shelter during a storm.
It's the 15th year the Charleston medical school has held the hurricane awareness event.
Hurricane season begins June 1 and continues through Nov. 30.
Scientists at Coastal Carolina University expect no hurricane to make landfall on the East or Gulf coasts this year. Their forecast released last week anticipates a "below to near normal" hurricane season in 2014.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
