MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Myrtle Beach parents dealing with their children's head lice now have an alternative to medicated shampoo and late nights with a fine-toothed comb.
The Coastal Lice Center opened its doors earlier this year. Owner Catherine Collins says she hopes her venture will be a new solution to an old problem.
Six to 12 million people get the pesky bugs every year. Many experts recommend using medicated shampoos when a child gets head lice, but sometimes that's not enough.
Collins says she uses all-natural, non-toxic products to banish the bugs. She also gives clients information on how to prevent future problems and free lice checks for 90 days.
Similar salons already operate in cities including Columbia, Charleston and Greenville.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
