N. Charleston bids on old Naval hospital
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The city of North Charleston has submitted a bid for the former Charleston Naval Hospital, officials confirmed Thursday.
City council members are expected to discuss the bid at a meeting tonight.
Ryan Johnson, a spokesman for the city said North Charleston currently is the highest bidder for the property, which went up for auction earlier this year. He would not say what the city plans to do with the property.
The highest bidder gets the hospital, 24 acres of land, a smaller building and a parking lot.
The federal General Services Administration would have to decide whether to accept the city's bid for the building and the surrounding land.
