NC duo charged in copper thefts from high school

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two men were arrested in connection to copper thefts from Georgetown High School's auditorium.

According to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, James Anthony Oxendine and Shand Andrew Strickland, both of North Carolina, were arrested and charged with obtaining nonferrous metals unlawfully.

Deputies say the two men were working for a subcontractor who was installing the sprinkler system in the building. Damages were estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Oxendine and Strickland are both being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center.
