LORIS, S.C. (AP) - A North Carolina woman has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting her husband and stepson to death in Horry County.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Sandy Lee Locklear of Tabor City, North Carolina, was sentenced after an Horry County jury convicted her Thursday of two counts of murder.
Locklear was charged in 2012 with shooting and killing her 66-year-old husband, Amos Hatfield, and his 40-year-old son, Thomas Howard Hatfield, at their Loris home.
Police also charged two other men, Nehemiah James Evans and Odom Bryant, with murder and first-degree burglary. Those charges are still pending, and it wasn't immediately known if the men had attorneys.
Authorities say Locklear conspired with the men to kill her husband and collect insurance money.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
