CFD crews work fire in West Ashley

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Crews worked a fire in West Ashley Friday afternoon, said officials with the Charleston Fire Department.

Officials said the first crew arrived at about 3:55 p.m. and reported smoke coming for the roof of an apartment on White Oak Drive.

Officials said the fire was under control by 4 p.m.

One person was at home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported, officials said.

Officials with the American Red Cross said they assisted a family of four after the family's unit was damaged by the fire.

Red Cross officials said a second family living in an adjacent apartment was also displaced because of minor smoke damage.
