NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police have arrested a man they believe is behind the March 19 shooting on Cosmopolitan Street.

According to the police report, officers responded to Cosmopolitan and Echo streets after reports of shots fired.

Police said the victim, Neil Ferrell, was shot in the leg while he was standing outside a home talking to his brother. Officers found a .45 caliber casing on the ground near the front porch where the brothers were standing.

Witnesses at first told police they hadn't seen anything, that they had just heard one gunshot and then saw Ferrell wounded. Later, another witness came forward and said she saw "a black male with a bald head wearing a black shirt" argue with the victim before pulling out a gun and shooting him. She said the suspect, who was between 25 and 30 years old rode off on a beach cruiser bicycle.

The suspect, 28-year-old Mario Archield, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to court records, bond was set for Archield at $600,000.
