NCPD investigates 8th shooting in just 10 days
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- There's been an eighth shooting in just 10 days in the city of North Charleston. That's what North Charleston police are dealing with after they say two people were shot along Ashley Shores Drive early Friday morning.
Investigators were told that two people were standing in front of a vacant apartment when a car approached them around 1 a.m.
Officials say shots were fired from the driver of a silver Dodge Avenger. Both people in front of the apartment were hit. Only one of the victims had to be taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment.
Shortly after the incident, officers observed a silver Dodge Avenger parked at a gas station at the corner of Reynolds and Rivers avenues. Officials say the driver sped off, went through a red light, and crashed into two parked vehicles on Tulip Street.
The driver then fled on foot and was apprehended. Officers found a discarded handgun near the scene of the crash.
The suspect, 23-year-old Winston Dunham, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of possessing a knife or firearm during the commission of a violent crime, failure to stop for blue lights, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.
Dunham was given a bond amount of $560,890.50 on Friday.
