NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a South Surrey Drive home Friday morning.

NCPD officials said officers responded around 5 a.m. after reports of shots fired and a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators found the male victim was sleeping on a couch when an unknown person fired two shots from outside. A bullet struck the victim and he was later pronounced dead.

The coroner's office identified the man as 21-year-old Terrell Wilson. According to police, Wilson was a suspect in the Jan. 1 shootings, but was killed before officers could serve and arrest warrant for accessory after the fact of murder.

At this time, there is no information on the shooter. Police said they did not have evidence that Wilson's death was linked to the Jan. 1 shootings.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Charleston Police at 740-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
