NCPD: Motorcyclist killed on Hwy 52 exit ramp
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston Police Department Traffic Officers are investigating a fatal accident that happened early Tuesday morning.
According to NCPD officials, the single-vehicle wreck happened just before midnight on Highway 52 at Highway 78 near Goose Creek.
Investigators believe a motorcycle driver was speeding on the exit ramp and collided with the guard rail.
Officials said the motorcyclist was taken to Medical University Hospital in critical condition and later died. The coroner's office identified the man as 23-year-old Robert Hardy, III. He was an active-duty airman stationed in Charleston, the coroner said.
The accident remains under investigation.
