Non-profits to benefit from weekend tourism seminar

      CAINHOY, S. C.(WCIV)-- Local non-profit organizations have an opportunity to{}find out how they can get a piece of{} the Lowcountry's{}five billion dollar tourism industry pie this weekend.

      "Raising The Curtain: The African-American Niche of The tourism Industry Conference And Think Tank" will present resources available to help build businesses and non-profits in underdeveloped low country communities.

      When asked who would benefit from this day long seminar, coordinator Kwadjo Campbell said, "various community-based non-profit organizations that do cultural art programming...people who do tourism programming... people doing conferences that attract visitors from the outer area to the Charleston community" would benefit the most.

      Among the scheduled speakers,{}Dwayne Parrish- director of the SC Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.{}

      Attendees will also be able to get information regarding tax accommodation programs, business and financial planning and grants.
