North Charleston family of 4 forced out by flames

      NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A spokesperson for the North Charleston Fire Department says fire sparked at a house on Fillmore Street Monday night.

      According to NCFD spokesperson Bianca Bourbeau, first arriving units saw smoke coming from the single story structure around 10:30 p.m.

      Bourbeau said firefighters made quick work of the flames and limited the damage but officials with the Red Cross called the home "destroyed."{}

      The fire was under control in 15 minutes. No one was hurt and there is no word yet on a cause.

      The Red Cross is helping the displaced family of two adults and two children, including one 18-year-old.

      Firefighters from North Charleston, Charleston and St. Andrews departments responded.
