NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A North Charleston family of three was displaced by a house fire Thursday night, according to fire department officials.
Firefighters responded to the Whitney Drive home shortly after 10 p.m., officials said, where the found heavy smoke coming from the home.
According to fire officials, the family of three made it out of the home safely, but said their two dogs were still trapped inside the house.
Firefighters were able to find them. One of the dogs had to be given oxygen while crews put out the fire.
The Red Cross helped the family with supplies and shelter.
The fire department is still investigating the fire to find a cause.
