NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Nine people were arrested and a 4-year-old child was taken from a North Charleston home where bomb-making materials were found.
According to police, officers were sent to the Old London Road home shortly after 1 p.m. to investigate reports of a possible meth lab. Instead of meth-making materials, police found materials to make explosives.
North Charleston police evacuated nearby homes and called in agents with the ATF and the Charleston County Bomb Squad to help clear the home.
Police said one person was charged with manufacturing a destructive device. Eight other people in the home were charged with unlawful conduct towards a child.
The Department of Social Services has been contacted to take custody of the child.
According to an incident report, the 4-year-old child was returned to her mother after the arrests. The mother told investigators that she had left her child with a friend while she napped.
Police identified those arrested as Russell Lawson Mosley, Jr., Shara Dawne Greene,
Taylor Sybil Arnold, Rebekah Roxan Fant, Clarence James Guillermo Pugh, Daniel Evanda Johnson III, Julie Faulling, and Darrell Michael Leone.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
