NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Goose Creek man was arrested and charged with a carjacking and kidnapping that happened last week.

According to police reports, Chavias J. Jenkins was taken into custody at his mother's home in Goose Creek. Jenkins is charged with carjacking resulting in great bodily injury, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Jenkins' bond was set at $350,000.

According to police, officers were sent to Twitty Street last Friday in reference to a woman who said she had been kidnapped and carjacked after she went to meet someone she met on Craigslist to buy a cellphone.

The two women agreed to meet at the Waffle House on Aviation Avenue, police said, but when the victim showed up, a black man approached her, forced her into the car and drover her to the Russelldale neighborhood.

Police say the man had a handgun.

The woman was told to get out of the car near Twitty Street, where she ran to a nearby house and called police.

A short time later, police said the woman's car was found at an apartment complex on Kerry Street.

Police said the woman was not injured.
