BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- An accident on Interstate 26 Tuesday morning sent a North Charleston officer to Trident Medical Center.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, North Charleston Police officer Darryl Allen was in an unmarked car headed eastbound on I-26 when he slowed for traffic. That's when a second driver hit Allen's car from behind.
Allen was taken to Trident Medical Center by EMS. He was later released, officials said. Allen was on his way to work at the time of the accident.
The second driver was not injured, but she was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
